What does the ACLT do with the funds raised

Raising Awareness and Saving Lives in the UK and abroad

What does the ACLT do with the funds raised

Commencing in 2008 the long term aim of the ACLT is to raise funds to start an independent UK Ethnic Minority Bone Marrow Register. That will enable us to undertake worldwide donor searches on behalf of Black, Mixed Race and Ethnic Minority patients around the world. The charity will be UK based but working in conjunction with the world bone marrow registers in finding potential donors for sufferers internationally. This will also enable the ACLT to coordinate the implementation and planning of raising awareness campaigns. This will be achieved by strengthening our links with local organisations and medical establishments so that donors can be found for the many Leukaemia and Bone Marrow disorder patients needing a life saving Transplant.

There are approx. 25,000 Black and Mixed Race people and thousands of other people from other backgrounds that the ACLT have added to the UK register, but if funds are raised quickly then that figure will rise substantially. Therefore potentially giving hope to the many Leukaemia sufferers in the UK and around the world requiring a Bone Marrow Transplant from a matching donor.

As an independent charity, we continually rely on financial support from individuals and companies. The following are examples where public donated funds will be directly contributing to helping sufferers therefore please seriously consider making a donation, however large or small, it will help us to utilise the money raised in the following examples:

1. Funds raised will enable tus o set up the registry database and pay for the testing of many potential Bone Marrow donors by external UK Laboratories

2. Fund the creation of our own laboratories to enable an in-house ACLT testing facility.

3. The funds will be used to continue the essential groundbreaking raising awareness campaigns with the HM Prison Service, Fire Brigade, HM Treasury, Financial establishments, etc

3. Help pay for future Blood and Bone Marrow registration clinics in association with the National Blood Service.etc

4. To raise awareness, hosting PowerPoint presentations to schools, colleges, universities, corporate, government offices, community groups etc.

5. Covering the costs of the presentations, seminars and general registration clinics undertaken by the ACLT throughout the UK.

6. Fronting Media Campaigns to raise awareness about Appeals on behalf of the many outstanding patients in the UK and abroad.

7. To cover the ACLT’s general running costs, such as Telephone, Postage, IT/Computers, Literature and Stationery, etc
