Many people who make a parachute jump do so whilst raising funds for a worthwhile cause. Skyline are the largest organisers of sponsored charity jumps in the UK who will pay for your charity skydive in return for you raising a minimum amount of funds for the ACLT.

By doing this you get your jump for FREE and the information on this page explains how you can take advantage of this...Jump for FREE

Tandem Skydive: £395

Static Line Square: £360

Accelerated Freefall: £535

From these sums we will receive an average donation of at least £140 and you will receive your parachute jump for FREE!

What's it like to do a 10,000 ft Freefall Parachute Jump?

Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens, the steering toggles come down either side of you and you begin a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air, steering yourself back down to the centre of the drop zone below. Well you can stop imagining because it's real and you can do it at an airfield near you by reserving a place on one of our 10,000 feet freefall tandem skydives...

What does freefall parachuting involve?

Technically the jump is called a 'Tandem Skydive'. It is a Skydive because you will be freefalling through the air (without the parachute deployed) for several thousand feet; it is in Tandem because you will be harnessed to a professional parachute instructor at all times throughout the descent (see photo). This is the only way you can jump from such an altitude without spending thousands of pounds becoming a freefall parachutist. This is literally the chance of a lifetime! This jump is also much less demanding than the traditional 'static line' jump as the jump and training are completed in one day and your instructor will control your landing.

We sincerely hope that after reading this information you will decide to give it a go.

We are in need of funds in order to continue our life saving work and don't forget, all you have to do is raise the minimum amount of sponsorship and you will get to jump for free!

Good luck with raising your sponsorship and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Read Kofi Sarpong's breathtaking experience of his tandem skydive on behalf the ACLT

Hi my name is Kofi Sarpong, I’m 20 and am currently studying Business Management at Kingston University. This is my story as to why I decided to Jump out of a plane to raise money for The ACLT. The thought of jumping out of a plane always excited me however, I never actually saw the point of jumping out of a plane and the fear of the parachute not opening was all I needed to assure I would not do it. One day I remember going into my brother’s room and randomly seeing a picture on the wall of him in mid-air, gesturing at the camera with his thumbs up. I was oblivious to him planning to skydive let alone aware he had done it so when he returned home I asked him how it was and he said “Amazing! It’s something you need to experience!”

I then remembered back to when I was younger and he had a poster that said “never let your fears get in the way of your dreams!” I could see that he didn’t and there was no reason for me to do differently.

Why ACLT?

I saw the ACLT as a very good cause. Being Black myself it really did hit home that only a few Africans & Caribbeans are registered. As well as this, it was extremely inspirational to here the story of Orin Lewis and Beverley De-Gale. In particular Beverley’s crusade to help her son and improve the Black community was heart warming. The ACLT has been operational for 12 years and is achieving its goals. Studying business I know the importance of figures and achieving goals and in the first 11 months the ACLT brought the number of Black people registered on the donors list from 550 (a figure it had taken 24 years to get) to 2500 which is an amazing achievement. It takes our community as a whole to make a difference and I felt it was important to do my part.

Fundraising tips

I think the best tip I could give to you is “Never judge a book by its cover!” No matter what a person looks like or acts like it is worth asking them for sponsorship!!! In my early stages I was very sceptical towards asking other ethnicities for sponsorship because I thought that they would not want to support the cause. However a large percentage of my sponsors came from other nationalities and in many cases people they knew had or were currently being affected by the disease. The more you stereotype the smaller your potential sponsors become. “Use all possible outlets” - I raised funds the traditional way but I also raised money on the social network Facebook . “The more the merrier” - Getting people to help you lessens the strain on you to fundraise so get people to take your sponsorship form to work, church or any where they can. “Know your target” - If you have got a target of £200 then that is 20 people at £10 or 200 at £1. Knowing your target makes it easier to achieve and gives you something to work towards.

After the experience

It was a great experience and to know that I helped the ACLT as well as doing something as exhilarating as skydiving made the experience even better. Words can’t describe the experience it was different and I savoured every minute of it.
