Dear UK Ladies, It's reached that time of year for us to start planning the 2011 Adidas Women’s 5km Challenge at London's Hyde Park, taking place on Sunday 11th September.
If you participated at last year’s event, you should be receiving a pack from the Adidas Women’s 5km Challenge Organisers encouraging you to take part again this year. We would very much like you to consider joining us in the fun run on behalf of the ACLT... so that we can ultimately benefit the families living with leukaemia and all blood related cancers through the work of the ACLT. I’ve attached a link to the Adidas Women’s 5km Challenge website: Click Here so that you can immediately secure your place.
The organisers have a selection of chosen charities, unfortunately we are not one of them and so you will be asked to add the ACLT details.
ACLT, Southbridge House, Southbridge Place, Croydon CR0 4HA. Tel no. 020 8240 4480.
To register to take part in the 5km fun run the organisers charge a £15 entry fee of which £5 will automatically be donated to the ACLT. So you will be asked to make a payment on the secure online payments page. Once completed you will be registered to take part and can then commence raising donations. Please let us know as soon as you have secured your place.
We would really like everyone to come along to the run with family and friends.
We will have an established base on the day which will be up and running before our first runners arrive and there will be a notice prior to the day on how to get to the ACLT's meet point. We will provide an ACLT T-shirt to all who run on behalf of the ACLT; the T-shirts will of course be free.
If you are up for this challenge please let us know. If you would like to join us please email us at info@aclt.org for confirmation, with your full name and your mobile phone number for text updates etc,
Last year many of our runners chose to set up a "virgin money giving" CLICK HERE web page to collect sponsorship money - this method of sponsorship meant that all money pledged was definitely received by the charity; I am going to produce a step by step guide on how to set up a Just Giving web page so that we can maximise our receipt of promised sponsorship and of course gain 25p from our government from ever £1 sponsored on your behalf. I know there will always be those who will not enter their credit card details online and so our official sponsorship forms will be posted or e-mailed to anyone requesting them. Finally, a word from us to give you an update on the ACLT and what the charity will be striving towards with your support
ACLT Aims and Objectives
The charity raises awareness which enables the general public to come forward at the ACLT registration drives to be involved in the process of offering hope and a healthy future to someone whose disorder may otherwise prove fatal. The ACLT has raised the numbers of potential Black/Mixed Race bone marrow donors from 550 to approx. 35,000 and many lives have been saved in the process. The ACLT works as a gateway to encourage donation from within the Ethnic Minority Communities as potential life savers.
Unfortunately, 24,000 sufferers require life saving bone marrow transplants at any one time. Less than 3% of potential donors on the bone marrow registers are made up of ethnic minorities. Raising awareness & potential funds for the ACLT will allow us to continue to host awareness events and registration drives recruiting bone marrow, blood and organ donors throughout the UK and Worldwide, therefore potentially giving greater hope to patients of all racial backgrounds.
There are many sufferers and their families fighting with tremendous courage and strength. We would like to observe that their battle would not be in vain.
Thank you
Verna Brackett & Janet Onyejekwe – Tel no. 020 8240 4480. info@aclt.org
