Success for the ACLT at the Virgin London Marathon 2010 on Sunday 25 April
The ACLT had two intrepid Virgin London Marathon runners who helped to raise much needed funds. W.K. Raphael aka ‘Raph Minus 1 Kidney’ and Alison Moseley are an inspiration to us all.
W.K. Raphael aka ‘Raph Minus 1 Kidney - 4 hours 54 mins
Yes that’s right…Raph M1K is a seasoned long distance runner who has donated one of his kidneys to help save a life. His runs and blogs raise funds and awareness - living proof to everyone about the positive impact of donation.
At the same time the ACLT celebrated 14 years of saving lives, Raph also celebrated the 3rd Anniversary of his kidney donation to his beloved partner Angie. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH
Excerpts from his blog:
‘I would like everyone I meet to at least give some consideration to Donating ….For me personally, I get a greater appreciation for my good health and in turn, try to make better use of it. I am also genuinely interested in getting feedback. Do you? Don't you? Why not?’

Alison Moseley - 6 hours 52 mins
Alison battled through injuries picked up during training to complete the gruelling 26.2 mile course. Thank you all for supporting me to run the Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for the ACLT.
Alison and Raph even joined the Daniel De-Gale 10K Marrow-thon on 1 May run a week later!
Samantha Walker, ACLT staff supporting the runners en route said ‘Their performance and will-power are a testament to the commitment of the ACLT’s supporters.
On behalf of everyone supported by your efforts - We salute you!’
Together they raised over £800 and donations are still coming in. Please support their efforts by clicking on their secure online justgiving pages below. Thank You.

How will we use their donation?
All funds raised via Alison Moseley and Raph Minus 1 Kidney sponsorship will support our ongoing educational awareness programme about bone marrow and blood donation and donor registration events throughout the UK.

Here are comments from their training diary a few days before the Marathon
Alison Moseley
I have made it to the final week. Not injury free, but good enough to make it to the start line.
20 Mile training run, done. Final 10k, done. Just the last 26.2 miles to go!!
My plan is to be slow and steady. And like the hare and the tortoise, I will make it to the finish.
Raph M1K
In May 2010 I will be celebrating my 3rd anniversary as a living organ donor.
In very short, Angie and I worked together for a few months in 1999. In May 2007 we had a live donor kidney transplant from me to her because she needed one of my kidney’s more than I did.
The year as I embrace my new outlook on life I'm trying again to do some fund raising...
After a few years of trying, I've got entry to the London Marathon on 25th April 2010. This is going to be my 1st attempt at a full 26.2 miles marathon and my mouth keeps going on about sub 4hrs while my legs are showing a different story.
So, when the ACLT 10k Marrow-Thon (6 miles) was rescheduled on Saturday 1st May, I thought perfect. However, this is now going to be a short victory jog which I'm asking everyone I meet to join.
